Dick Johnson's Tips and TricksWeb Development
To promote Shell automotive products, in 2008 JWT collaborated with Nextstudio to produce the Dick Johnson's Tips and Tricks Challenge website. The campaign was tied to the 2008 V8 Supercar series and offered fans the chance to contribute their best automotive maintenance tips in exchange for the chance to win a range of prizes.
The site featured a range of custom content management which was sufficient to allow the agency full autonomy throughout the duration of the competition. Top entrants were moderated and published to the site as the campaign progressed, and agency staff were able to coordinate the drawing of winners as the competition progresed.
On the front-end W3C compliant HTML/CSS was tied with AJAX to provide seamless interaction with the embedded Flash site elements. The site was built to degrade gracefully - whether a user merely lacked Flash or Javascript, or was accessing the site through non-standard interfaces such as a screen reader or text browser, all features remained accessible.
Nextstudio was responsible for all technical aspects of the site including software development, layout, scalability design, hosting and security.
